Mission

To create a genuine and compassionate space where individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered to pursue meaningful growth. Through authentic relationships, evidence based care, and an intentional, whole person approach, we help clients build lives that align with who they are and what matters most to them.

Vision

To cultivate a practice where authenticity, intentionality, and sustainable healing are at the heart of every interaction, empowering individuals, strengthening families, and fostering a community where mental health care is accessible, compassionate, and deeply human.

Long term, we envision a practice that not only supports clients through life's challenges but also models a healthier way of providing care, one where clinicians are encouraged to thrive alongside the people they serve.

Core Values

Authenticity

We believe healing begins with genuine connection.

We show up with honesty, integrity, and transparency, creating a space where clients can feel safe to be themselves. We value open communication, ethical practice, and the courage to have difficult conversations when they serve growth and healing.

Growth

We believe change is possible.

Healing is not about becoming someone different, it's about becoming more fully yourself. We support growth through evidence based care, curiosity, resilience, and collaboration, recognizing that meaningful progress looks different for every person.

Intentionality

We believe lasting change happens through intentional choices.

Whether in therapy or in our practice, we strive to align our actions with our values. We take a thoughtful, whole person approach that considers each individual's unique experiences, relationships, lifestyle, and goals. We also believe sustainable care requires healthy boundaries, balance, and presence for both clients and clinicians.

Meet Alicia Kennedy,

My Professional Journey

I’ve spent 10+ years in the human services field, working with individuals and families across a variety of settings. My experience includes more than six years serving individuals with disabilities through The Arc and behavioral health, internships with an Employee Assistance Program and family services organization, work with seniors, and Community Mental Health serving children and families in both home-based and outpatient settings.

Each role has taught me something different about people, systems, and resilience and ultimately led me to private practice. Those experiences continue to shape how I show up with clients today: curious, genuine, and without the expectation that there is a one-size-fits-all approach to healing.

What I Believe

I don't believe people need quick fixes. I believe they need space to be honest, feel safe, understand themselves, build skills, and experience genuine connection.

To me, wellness isn't about becoming a completely different person or getting every part of life “right.” It's about creating a life that feels authentic, intentional, and sustainable, even when life doesn't go according to plan.

I believe our pasts are part of our story, but they don't have to be the author of it. The person I was ten years ago could not have imagined standing where I am today and honestly, I'm pretty grateful for that. People can grow, change, heal, and become someone they never thought they could be. Not because we erase where we've come from, but because we get to decide what we do with it.

I know what it feels like to be minimized, misunderstood, or put into a box that doesn't quite fit. That's not the life I want to live, and it's not the life I want for you provided, of course, that living differently is what you want. I'm not here to decide who you should become. I'm here to help you figure out who you are, what matters to you, and what kind of life you actually want to build.

Becoming a therapist taught me something I still carry with me today: caring for others and caring for ourselves aren't separate goals. We can't sustainably pour into others without allowing someone to pour into us, too. That belief has shaped not only the therapist I am, but the person I continue to become.

Beyond the Therapist

I’m a wife, a mom, a friend, a community member, and a therapist and I believe all of those parts of me matter. I’m not interested in pretending that being a therapist means having life figured out. I’m a human being first, and I bring that humanity into the room with me.

As a lifelong resident of Calhoun County with strong ties to Kalamazoo County, I care deeply about the communities I’m part of and the people who call them home.

I believe authenticity matters. Being a professional doesn’t mean leaving your personality at the door. I swear, I have a sense of humor, and I can appreciate comedy that isn’t always politically correct while still believing deeply in compassion and respect. I’ll read the room, but I also want to show up as myself and I hope you feel like you can do the same. Sometimes that may even mean a compassionate B.S. call-out.

I believe in making space for the different pieces of who we are. I attend therapy myself, I believe therapists are human too, and I’m a firm believer that finding the right therapist matters. Even if that therapist isn’t me, I want you to find the right fit.

Outside of work, swimming is my happy place, summer means floating down the river, and I have an unreasonable love for alpacas and The Walking Dead. I’m still learning, growing, laughing, swearing, making mistakes, and figuring this whole human thing out just like everyone else.

And I think that’s part of what makes me a damn good therapist.

Why KCW?

Kennedy Consultation & Wellness is more than the practice I’m building; it’s a reflection of what I believe mental health care can be. I envision KCW growing into a place where people can find therapy, trustworthy resources, meaningful education, community connection, and support beyond the therapy room.

It’s just getting started, and I’m excited to see where it goes.

A Special Thank You

Behind every dream is a village, and I couldn't build Kennedy Consultation & Wellness without mine.

A special thank you to my husband, Ryan, who generously spends his downtime supporting the non-clinical side of the business. From reviewing materials and brainstorming ideas to helping with marketing, graphics, and the countless behind the scenes details, his encouragement and support have played an important role in bringing this vision to life. Thank you for believing in me and in what Kennedy Consultation & Wellness is becoming.
